Meta Expands AI Agent Muse Capabilities

At the annual Connect event in Menlo Park, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg detailed expansion plans for Muse, an AI agent powered by the Muse Spark multimodal model that connects to user applications like email and calendars. Meta introduced the Muse Realtime Avatar model, allowing users to video chat with a visual avatar named Jolly. Additionally, the software will soon integrate with Meta smart glasses to guide workouts, log meals, book appointments, and handle purchases using a wake word. Meta's chief AI officer Alexandr Wang announced that Muse is expanding to Mac desktop computers to operate applications, will receive its own dedicated email address for background tasks, and has secured shopping integrations with platforms like Shopify, Stripe, and PayPal alongside various retail brands.

The updates reflect a major push by Meta into consumer-facing artificial intelligence agents designed to handle everyday digital and physical tasks. By integrating the technology across smart glasses, desktop operating systems, and retail checkout networks, the company aims to embed its software deeply into daily consumer workflows while eventually monetizing transactions through small fees.
